Dear grandma,
Second drop of Once Upon a Time series featuring wool by Cristiana Barroso
Dear grandma,
I’m writing to you with my heart full of gratitude and love, because you were the one who raised me with all your care and patience.
Each piece of me carries a piece of you, in each gesture, in each choice, because you’ve always been my inspiration.
I remember one day, when I was a little girl, I was sitting by your side in the living room, watching your hands working on a scarf. I, full of curiosity, asked your repeatedly what to do with the needles, and you, with your infinite patience, holding my little hands showed me the way, stitch by stitch, until I was finally able to make my own knitting stitch.
Dear grandma,
Thank you for raising me in my own fantasy world, where bed sheets turned to castles, and inside you would tell me the most beautiful and amazing made up stories. Because these were the stories that made my beautiful imagination and gave wings to my creativity and ability to make up eternal ideas for all the collections in the world. Thank you for teaching me how to draw, paint and sew my first pieces when I was a little girl. And thank you for raising me to believe I could be whoever and whatever I wanted to be. You will always be my greatest inspiration for my Paparina.
This letter is for you, grandmas and moms out there who were always our safety, our inspiration to move on, with strength, tenderness and resilience.
With love,
Paparina & Cristiana Barroso
What can I say about this small drop? It’s so very special because it was dreamed and designed during summer by our intern Cristiana Barroso and launched in our first cold Autumn days. It’s dedicated to the most special people in our little world, our grandmas. To consummate this small drop we added the coolest stripes and our most beloved prints in satin scarfs.
Hope you like this collection as much as we do!

Open Sesame!
First drop of Once Upon a Time series
This drop was designed in the end of my summer vacations in Puglia, and represents a little bit of my imaginary.
Always living in my own head and my own fantasy world, I decided to bring you a little bit of all my favourite things in one drop:
The tiger has always been my favourite animal, so in this collection I designed the biggest tigers in two of my favourite colours - orange and purple, like Rajah - Jasmin’s tiger in Disney’s Aladdin, one of my favourite childhood movies.
With the tiger came the sun, in the softest Italian velvet and the moon in gold and purple glitter with our favourite sevilian flecos and reminding the one thousand and one nights and princess Sheherazade.
The vanilla/ butter golden glitter came to mix this all up together and a super limited edition brought the coolest decor fabric we bought in Paris this year.
Special thanks to my friends Cremilde and Inês - our coolest model, because this could not happen without them.
Hope you like this mystical collection super very much, it was designed and made with love.

Song by Walter Wanderley
This drop was deisgned in the beggining of winter thinking on hot summer days.
It was in January that I wasn’t feeling myself. I wanted to launch the sea - my sea - as the first spring drop, ‘cause I always find comfort in those salty waters.
We tested and tested colours and could never find the right match, so me and Inês - again the designer of these sea shells, decided to leave them to rest. And it was after our supper successful Tutti Frutti drop that we decided that it was time - midsummer - to launch this sea of ours.
Yves Blue is back matching with all sorts of oranges, reds and pinks in the coolest sea shells. There’s also a new addition, a pleated fabric that I found in one my trips to Spain and finally the non printed fabric is back with the color of the year - red! A super special coral brocade is also year to mix and match with everything.
Special thanks to Òrìsà who supplied the coolest vintage pearl necklaces and to Casa no Montinho, one of my happy places in the middle of baixo alentejo.
Hope you like this sea collection super very much, it was designed and made with love.

Sapori di Sale
Song by Gino Paoli
This collection is inspired by the song of Gino Paoli and was dreamt during the cold month of January.
Many were the prints developed by me and Inês, and we still couldn’t find the right style, the right color. Color has been what defines me and of course my own brand Paparina for a long time now - when you think of Paparina, you definitely think of bold colors and prints. But since last year I wasn’t feeling myself, and was struggling of how to put what I was feeling into my soul mirror that is Paparina.
It had to be my sea and my Italy in my favourite colors - oranges with a bit of red, purple with a bit of lilac, a splash of butter yellow here and there and puffs - Sapori di Sale was born.
New fabrics and new styles are here too - our tropicália linen and our Inês relaxed jacket, the perfect jacket for a summer night.
Unfortunately and fortunately this collection almost sold out at Spring Market Stylista last weekend, so here are the last pieces of my favourite collection ever.
Hope you like this collection as much as I do.
Mom, this one is for you, because you love the sea as much as I do.
